Like many people, 2020 whipped up on me for a period of time. The lockdowns, the quarantine, and the new rules for how the world operates was a lot to take in.
I had a few moments of “WTF…” trying to adapt to all these changes; some days, it really got to me; put me in a funk.
I’m not going to lie to you, and some of my closest RTC members know this, but prior to COVID, I was burnt out. I was tired. I wasn’t as fulfilled as I once was when I first opened the doors to RTC. I wasn’t that happy.
I didn’t like those feelings. I didn’t like feeling unfulfilled, not being happy, feeling like I was holding myself back, I felt like I was not living to my full potential.
So, I choose to sit back and re-evaluate my life, my business, my priorities; I did a lot of soul searching during those early days of the lockdown in Texas.
I wasn’t as happy as I wanted to be, I was selling myself and RTC short. After much soul searching, I came to realize that the reason I was not fulfilled or happy was NOT because of the lockdown. No. The lockdown just magnified those feelings, but the lockdown was not the cause.
I was burned out and tired because I was NOT living to my full potential.
I was not in alignment with what fulfilled me and made me happy, and I knew it. Not living in a way that fulfilled me, holding myself back, was EXHAUSTING, and I didn’t even realize I was living that way!
The lock-down made me put a magnifying glass over my life.
It FORCED me to take a long hard look at myself, my decisions, goals, and life, as I’m sure it did for many people. I had to come to some hard truths about how I was living and the direction I was going.
I knew I needed to make some radical changes, but I didn’t know where or even HOW to start. It seems crazy to read that from a fitness guy whose purpose is to show others how to transform their life, huh?
Well, this brings me to my point.
Imagine if you have no history of your past.
I once read a text that stuck with me. I’m not sure of the exact quote so forgive me if you have ever read this before; it went something like this…
“Imagine you just landed in your body, take inventory of what all you have and what you can do. Imagine you have no history of the past, nothing that needs forgiveness, no burdens holding you back, nothing that you need to punish yourself for, but instead only the future to look forward to. With all that in mind… what would you do differently? What decisions would you make? How will you choose to live?”
That text did make me ask questions about what I WOULD do differently, and it always stayed in the back of my mind, but I never applied it. Then when the lockdown happened, I happen to read it again and decided F-it. From there, I adopted the viewpoint of using the lock-down as a reset button for myself and RTC.
Once Gov Abbot decided to open Texas back up, I decided to pull the brakes off myself and do things differently, do the things that I’ve wanted to do AND especially take RTC to the level I envisioned it since day one and since then…
…we have evolved more in the past 6 months than the past 6 years!
- Increased our staff and brought onboard SEVERAL very talented coaches
- Created and added our NEW Nutrition Caching
- Addition of one on one training
- Complete revamp of our Small Group Training, which has taken many people to higher levels than ever. It’s the most loved program here.
A few more cool things that you’ll see in the next two months….
- Creation of our own supplement (several in fact) <== our own custom blend, you’ll see it come out in the next few months.
- Custom building of software for our studio and our online studio <==this one I’m VERY excited about!
- Creation of a new 16-week transformation program <== wait till you see the before and after videos of these people… CRAZY impressive
In addition to that….
- I coached a member to complete an unofficial world record (Lunging a 5K, video to be out later this Jan), and I was able to do this with them.
Not to mention other awesome things that have happened in my personal life 🙂
2020 was a year that in the beginning kicked my a$$, but when I look back on it, it was a year that made me re-evaluate my life and take action on the things that were not in alignment with what fulfilled me.
2020 was my reset button.
I took a deep look at myself, at RTC, and said screw it.
When I pressed the reset button on RTC and my life, I realized I could have pressed that button whenever the hell I wanted, I didn’t need a pandemic to make me do that. I just needed to take action and do it. That nothing was holding me back but me.
So… why do I share this with you?
Many people I talk to always have reason(s) on why they haven’t done the things they want to do. Why they haven’t lost weight, started that business, asked that girl/guy out, or anything they want. The reasons they list are self-imposed reasons (excuses or validations) they use to hold themselves back.
When in all reality, the only thing holding them back is the thinking that there is something holding them back.
Ask yourself this…
If you immediately landed into your current body, your current situation, and had no memory of the past, or no memory of things holding you back, what would you do differently? What decisions would you make? How would you live?
Think about that mull it over. How different would your life be?
A completely different life is only one decision away.
Not going to lie and say it won’t be easy; in fact, it will take some courage to do so, but once you do, once the ball gets rolling. Well hell, you’re going to enjoy the ride! 🙂
