“What exercise should I do to build (points to a random body part) this muscle?”
This is one of the more common questions I get as a trainer because after a while the people asking this feel they have tried just about every exercise on their own and are looking for something else.
Now here at Rowlett Transformation Center, we tend to focus on getting individuals better at big motions because we feel that this is what delivers great results when it comes to aesthetics; but it’s not to say that we don’t want to continue to bring up other “showy” muscles 😉
So I went on a bit of a video bender here and shot TWO of my favorite exercises to help build each particular body part. I must admit though, I do have about a dozen that I love to use but it all depends on the person and their specific goals.
What you’ll see is that I don’t use any pin or plate loaded machines just for the sole purpose that they don’t allow your body to move in its own natural movement pattern. We are all built biomechanically different so the unfortunate thing is that machines have a very limited adjustment ability to compensate for individual mechanics.
So below is MY personal favorite for having to build up or improver certain body parts.
-Chest-
Neutral Grip Incline Dumbbell Press
Bench Press
-Lats-
Pull/Chin-ups
Front Leavers
-Back-
Arm Barbell Rows
Dead Lifts
-Shoulders-
Handstand push-ups
Dumbbell Overhead press (dumbbells to shoulders) “Arnold Press”
-Glutes-
Lunges
Step Ups
-Hamstrings-
GHR
Single Leg Hip Extension
-Quads-
Front Squats
-Calves-
Single Leg Calf Raises
Donkey Calf Raises
-Biceps-
Rope Pull-ups
Fat Gripz Dumbbell Curls
-Triceps-
Body Weight Triceps Extensions
Lying Dumbbell Floor Extensions
-Abs-
Band Rotations High to Low
Standing Band Crunches
So NOT all video are of me, come on even I would get sick of watching my mug on camera all day lol, but this will give you a good idea of what are my “go to” exercises for certain body parts.
Be sure to check out Rowlett Transformation Center YouTube Channel because I did shoot a lot of exercises and not all are on this list.
