Tracking Food for Weight Loss – What Really Happens After 5 Weeks

If you’ve been following my journey, you know I’ve been consistently tracking food for weight loss over the past 5 weeks. And I want to show you what happens when you keep it simple, stay consistent, and focus on what matters most — your numbers.

Week 5 Progress Update: Real Data, No Fluff

Over the last five weeks:

  • I’ve dropped 5 lbs

  • Stayed around 200 lbs consistently

  • Took one week “off” from workouts

  • Still enjoyed meals out, drinks with friends, and normal life

Even with an off week (days 21–28), where my eating and schedule were all over the place, I still made progress. I looked leaner, felt stronger, and hit new PRs in the gym.

That’s the beauty of food tracking — it creates structure even when life doesn’t.

What I Did Differently This Week

I stayed consistent with tracking but took a full week off from working out — my first real break in 6 months.

During that time, I:

  • Lowered calories to ~2,000/day

  • Reduced one meal per day

  • Focused on recovery, not fat loss

  • Prioritized walking and rest

I didn’t expect the scale to drop — my goal was healing, not hustling. But because I kept tracking food and stuck to my numbers, I still maintained results.

Why Food Tracking Works (Even on Off Weeks)

You don’t have to live a life of deprivation to lose fat. Over the past 5 weeks:

  • I ate meals out weekly

  • Had drinks with friends

  • Enjoyed food I liked — not just chicken, rice, and broccoli

Tracking food gave me structure without restriction. Could I have lost weight faster? Sure. But I wanted to find a way to lose weight while still living my life — and this is it.

What Happens When You Know Your Numbers

At RTC, our fat loss process starts by helping members find their numbers. From there, it’s just:

  • Hit those numbers consistently

  • Measure progress every 2 weeks

  • Adjust if needed

  • Repeat

Once your numbers are dialed in, everything becomes clearer. You’re no longer guessing. You’re just executing.

Does Tracking Food Take Forever?

Nope. In fact, most of our successful members only track:

  • Once or twice a week

  • As a quick check-in

  • For accountability, not obsession

But in the beginning, it’s powerful. Tracking builds awareness, confidence, and control — and that leads to results you can keep.

My Go-To Adjustments Moving Forward

After my recovery week, I’ll go back to:

  • 2,600 calories/day average

  • 75 minutes of movement 5x/week

  • Continuing to track progress and adjust as needed

This isn’t a diet. It’s just what works.

Why I’m Sharing This With You

Because tracking food for weight loss doesn’t have to be miserable. It doesn’t have to be obsessive. And it doesn’t have to be a forever thing.

But it does work — and I wanted to show you that through real results, not just theory.
