Calorie Tracking for Fat Loss – My 14-Day Results and What I’m Changing

If you’ve read my blog on how to find your calories for weight loss, you’ve seen how I approach the numbers. But this post is different — I’m showing you what it actually looks like to apply it.

This is my real-life experience with calorie tracking for fat loss, and what happened in the first 14 days.

Starting Point: From Bulking to Cutting

This past winter, I bulked up to 217 lbs — which is big for me. I added size… and more fat than I liked.

So about 6 weeks ago, I started leaning out.

  • Phase 1: Cleaned up my food

  • Cut out processed junk

  • Focused on 4 whole food meals per day

That alone dropped me from 217 to 205 in six weeks.

Now I’ve moved into tracking calories to dial it in further — not just to lose more weight, but to keep energy and performance high.

Calorie Tracking for Fat Loss: 14-Day Results

  • Day 1: 205 lbs

  • Day 14: 203 lbs

  • Calories: Ranged from 1,600 to 3,600 (yes, really)

  • Weekly average: ~2,600 calories/day

  • Workouts: 63 mins/day, 5x/week (tracked via MyZone)

So far, I’ve dropped about 1 lb/week. ✅

Not a bad start — especially while still eating well, enjoying food, and training hard.

What I Noticed From Tracking My Intake

Here are some observations I had after reviewing my numbers:

  • My calories were all over the place (1600–3600/day)

  • That much variation caused big water weight swings

  • I hit 201 lbs after a high-carb day (3100 cals / 320g carbs)

  • On my lowest calorie days, my weight increased the next day 🤯

  • Why? I suspect under-eating = inflammation due to poor recovery

Also, I noticed that weighing in the day after a hard workout gave me higher readings — likely due to water retention and inflammation from sore muscles.

So What Am I Changing Now?

Here’s my next phase:

✅ Stay at ~2,600 calories/day

Even on cheat days, I’m aiming for more consistent numbers. This helps reduce weight swings and gives me more accurate feedback.

✅ Increase workouts to 75 mins, 5x/week

That’s just 15 extra minutes per session — but across five days, it’s like adding a full workout.

✅ Stick to whole foods and hit macros

I’ll still allow flexibility but aim for daily consistency. I like food. I don’t want to cut more. So I’ll burn more instead.

The Power of Tracking (Even Temporarily)

You don’t have to track forever. But if:

  • You’re not sure how much you should be eating…

  • You want to see why your weight is jumping…

  • You want better control over results…

Then tracking your calories, even for a few weeks, gives you answers.

I plan to track for about 12 weeks, then move to every other day or a few days per week — just enough to stay accountable.

Why I’m Sharing This With You

Because this is exactly how we teach it at RTC.

We don’t hand you a meal plan and walk away. We help you:

  • Understand what your body needs

  • Track data to stay consistent

  • Adjust based on real results

  • Find a lifestyle that works for you

When you know your numbers, everything gets simpler. Simplicity leads to consistency, and that leads to momentum.

And when you’ve got momentum? That’s when the real changes happen.

Stay Tuned

I’ll measure again this Friday and see what kind of changes show up after making these tweaks.

This is the real process. Not perfect. Not extreme. Just consistent.
