19 Things to Know When Losing Your First 20lbs

Serving Wylie, Rockwall, Sachse, Garland & RowlettHere are the 19 (random) things you should know about losing your first 20lbs.

FYI…

This isn’t gospel, just an observation of helping many people start their journey.

One.
Weight loss can be erratic; some weeks you will lose 3lbs, others you’ll gain a pound; know that linear doesn’t apply here.

Two.
If you have shitty eating habits, you might lose SOME weight; however, you’ll just about kill yourself trying.

Three.
If you micro-manage every little calorie, you will hate your life.

Four.
Your relationships with food will completely change; you will become more aware of what you are eating and WHY you’re eating it.

Five.
You will likely be a little underwhelmed by what the scale says at the end of the week (if you are lifting weights), it is okay.

Six.
You will do less of the exotic exercises from fitness influences and get better results from the basics.

Seven.
Going through the motions vs. giving maximal effort matter in how your body looks.

Eight.
You must be ready to let go of a lot of friends and relationships that won’t support you on your journey.

Nine.
You will make new friends that not only support you but will help bring you up in your fitness journey.

Ten.
You must be ready for significant ups and downs; this journey can test you emotionally.

Eleven.
Your clothes will fit differently. Some areas are looser, and others, they become tighter; this is normal.

Twelve.
Think in terms of what you can add to your diet, not what you have to take away.

Thirteen.
If you want to REALLY change your body, you must be willing to change your life. Lifestyle dictates everything.

Fourteen.
Once you look back, you will realize how much you COMPLETELY overestimate how easy AND hard your journey would be.

Fifteen.
Don’t force your lifestyle on your spouse or family that didn’t ask to go down the same journey as you.

Sixteen.
Eventually, you will become detached from what the scale says but instead what bodyfat level says.

Seventeen.
You will learn that there is a difference between losing weight and getting leaner.

Eighteen.
When you have a question on what to do next, ask yourself, “what would your 20lbs lighter version of yourself do?” Then do that.

Nineteen.
Once you lose your first 20, your world opens up even more to what you can do and accomplish not only with your body but with your life.

Any-who… a few random thoughts, if you’re working on losing your first 20lbs.
