Side Note: I had someone do a guest writing series with this blog and a few others, so let me know what you think!

When you look at the liver, you will find that many functions depend on this organ. One of the things that this does is that it helps the metabolism. This is where bile is created. The liver is also involved with the synthesis of proteins. However, many people only seem to know that the liver is used when getting rid of toxins in the body. Many use essential oils as there are many benefits associated with the product. However, you must learn that there are some products that are harmful and can cause liver toxicity. One thing we do have to is to warn you about certain matters if you are a big fan of essential oils.

Essential oils can lead to liver toxicity if they are swallowed. These oils have to be used in moderation and needs to be used with caution. Some common essential oils include aniseed, clove, fennel, basil, bay, cassia, tarragon, cinnamon, and buchu. While there are still more studies being done on the topic, experts have already warned users about the potential harms of these substances.

Some of these essential oils are dangerous for those who swallow it or who have it massaged onto their skin. Certain essential oils are actually banned as they have been found to cause liver toxicity. Here are some of those blacklisted products. They include: mugwort, savin, bitter almond, wormwood, boldo leaf, sassafras, calamus, wormseed, rue, camphor, wintergreen, mustard, horseradish, pennyroyal, southernwood, thuja, jaborandi leaf, and stinging nettles.

If you are going to use an essential oil for any purpose, you need to be sure that you do your research to see if it is safe for your body and you liver. Liver toxicity is something that you don’t want to have to deal with. It’s not something that you really want to play around with as the results from this can be pretty deadly. If you cannot find sufficient information online, then get the advice from a doctor, as the will allow you to find more reliable and trustable information.

This might scare some people as many have always thought that essential oils are safe products. All the news that many have heard about essential oils of were positive. However, as with many other things in life, we need to be sure about the things we are putting on and into our bodies. That is why people need to be aware of which essential oils can cause liver toxicity. Think about this the next time you decide to go and get a therapeutic massage and be mindful of these matters. If you aren’t aware, then you could experience liver toxicity. This will cause your liver to become enlarged and if it is not taken care of, the liver could then shut down. The liver is an important organ as it has to function in order to keep you going. Therefore, this is why you have to stay away from things that can harm you liver.
